1. Rotate the fan assembly until the wire routing notches in the fans are facing upwards.
2. With sharp side cutters, gently cut open the shrink-wrap tubing around the fan wiring harness, ensuring you do not damage any wires.
3. The harness wires will now be accessible. Separate them gently from one another.
4. Separate the red +12VDC lead and the red and orange wires it connects to from the remaining wires.
5. Using sharp side cutters, clip the red wire at the connector side, before the heat-shrink covered junction where it connects to the red and orange fan wires.
5. Separate the black GND lead, the frame grounding lead, and the black wires they connects to from the remaining wires. Clip the black GND wires at the connector side, before the heat-shrink junction.
6. There will be two loose ends on the black GND wires: one from the self-aligning connector, and one from the frame grounding terminal. Keep them together.
7. Clip the remaining brown, yellow, purple, and white wires to match the length of the red +12VDC and black GND wires at the connector side.
8. Fourth checkpoint: the tandem fan assembly should now be electrically separated from the wiring harness. Wires should all be approximately the same length for ease of reattachment.
